This company is horrible. I have filled out all paperwork that needs to be filled out. The representatives have no clue what they are doing I am still waiting on my inheritance to be deposited into my account. The other beneficiary has her money (all monies since November) I’m still waiting. I’ve asked to speak to managers, apparently TIAA doesn’t have them. Your customer service is horrible. You have representatives that are very condescending when they speak to you. Just give me what is owed to me!!!! I don’t want another phone number to call!!! I want a MANAGER to call me!!!!

Gotta say- truly an “old-school operation”. Our TIAA advisor promised that our money was completely liquid. We went through the medical/physical exam and then forked over our money for a better interest rate than the banks were providing. We are retired now and decided to withdraw the accumulated annual interest. Early in January 2024 we asked for the 2023 interest to be transferred to our checking account that is assigned with our TIAA accounts. They said sure. HOWEVER, we needed to fill out the correct paperwork for this withdrawal/transfer to occur. I asked for an email attachment to make this quick. NOTE: the email they use is ALWAYS a “do not respond to this email address it is not real account” There is never a person or department sending it. We printed out this massive document of twelve pages!!! They require all kinds of documentation and notary republic to make a withdrawal. Then, the way that they will accept it, is to mail it back or fax it. FAX IT??? We are retired. So I download an app so that I can fax it back using my IPad. We hear nothing for about three weeks. I call. After a while, I get a human. I ask, “What say you, human?” Human sez, “Oh my, you did not fill out the paperwork correctly.” So we are told what is wrong. That’s it. I must ask, “How can we fix it?” Human provides answer and sends out another attachment utilizing the dead end email address. Another round of submission with no response. The process has repeated three times thus far. It is 3/27 at the time of this posting and we do not have our money. Their mendacious behavior continues and we are now determined to continue our fight to recover all of our money and run, run, run from this evil, dishonest organized-crime company

Absolutely appalling customer service. Agent refused to pass me on to their supervisor or manager. When asked who was the head of their department, they couldn’t tell me because “I’m not sure who the head of the department is.” Was told that a supervisor would contact me days later, that never happened. Very unprofessional, very unorganized, don’t care about their customer. Unfortunately, 1 star is the lowest rating Google allows, they shouldn’t even have that. Now my money will be lost to them, with little chance of recovery. People should have the ability to invest their money where they choose. If I’ve worked, and earned that money, I should be able to move it into a retirement fund that benefits me. Strongly advise anyone to look elsewhere, and be very careful when dealing with companies like these. Make sure you check every word of any small print when it comes to contracts, with anyone. People, and especially corporations, will take everything they can from you without a shred of decency.

Each and every time I have found it necessary to contact TIAA, it has required 2-4 hours of my time to locate an individual able to communicate intelligently concerning my account. It is, and has always been, worse then bad!

Today is the 2nd time that I have tried to contact the after-tax annuity department, and after 40 minutes on hold, I gave up; how can service be so bad?Wait, I know now why. You are spending more money on telling people to wait on social media instead of directing resources to your call center. Please tell your manager that you would like to be able to send a message that holds some meaning or actually addresses the issue instead of an apology, which is useless to all of us.
