The pottery class was a fantastic experience. Nina and Daphne were friendly and patient, guiding us through the basics and providing individual tips. Working with the clay was both relaxing and fun, and it felt amazing to create something with my own hands.
The highlight was glazing and decorating, which let me get really creative. Seeing the finished piece after firing was so rewarding. Whether you’re a beginner or just looking for a fun activity, I’d highly recommend trying it out!

Thanks so much to Maria, John, Nina, and Ron!! We came in for 3 hours. They centered the clay for us, and gave us the flexibility and creativity to make a bowl, plate, or cup. The instructors were chill and super knowledgeable, and they had the BEST music playing!
And what was super special (and something I’ve never seen at a ceramics class before) was that we stamped our own add-on decor to attach to the plate, we created bubble textures, and even added letters of our choice! There’s a ton of included options to spice up your ceramics, and you can glaze and color your piece for an extra cost.

I went there on 11/17 with my girlfriend as something to do for our anniversary and had a wonderful time. Our instructor Rom was very helpful. It was our first time and she managed to give us the time and space for us to explore creatively while also giving us the exact right amount of help when we needed it. She was very encouraging of ideas and we can tell she genuinely enjoyed watching us make our creations. My girlfriend was nervous to go but ended up leaving very happy. Overall very much recommended.

My boyfriend and I took a pottery class yesterday and had such a great time. Maria and Nina were absolutely wonderful and had such good vibes. Not to mention a great playlist! Will definitely come back to take another class.
Marisa Taitague

My boyfriend booked this class as a special way to celebrate my birthday, and it turned out to be an unforgettable first-time experience. The instructors, Aayah and Nina, were incredibly informative and provided clear, step-by-step guidance throughout the session. Thanks to their expertise, I was able to create a beautiful bowl that I’m super proud of.

Signed up for a 10am class (pottery + painting $120) Abby was a great instructor, super patient and great with kids! She explained everything calmly from start to finish. we had more than enough time to finish our pottery!
The studio was brightly lit and clean too ☺️
3 weeks until we get to pick up and an extra 30 days before they throw it out.

My friend and I had such a great experience that we came back for another class—and we brought more friends!
Leah and Winnie were our instructors both times, and they were both fantastic. They were incredibly helpful, patient, and enthusiastic about teaching. We all had a blast and learned so much.
Love the package deal that involves a combination of hand building, wheel throwing & painting. Wish we had more time! Can’t wait to see the final product!

This is my first time coming yo Pottery Studio 1 in Brooklyn. My friend and I went there, and I had so much fun experiencing pottery and making my first mug. We wanted to try something new and spend time together. We also met two workers, Maddy and Gabby, who were very friendly. correct me If I’m wrong I think that’s how it spelled their name. The environment was clean and pleasant, and they even offered us tea or water, which was a nice touch. The music matched the vibe perfectly. The cost was $120 per person for coloring which was quite worth it, we also stayed there for 10 more minutes because we ran out of time but then they let us stayed to finish it, I thanks them for that. They told us to come back 2-3 weeks later to pick up our pieces. We were initially scared, confused, and nervous about the session, but mary helped us through the process. She was very patient and communicated with us in a friendly manner, teaching us step by step. Gabby helped with the coloring and showed us how to decorate our pieces. The 2-hour session went by so fast. I would definitely come back again if you’re looking for a nice activity in New York City with friends. I really enjoyed it and would love to try other new things there. Highly recommended for a fun and creative experience!

Attended the 6p pottery class with my membership and Winnie was my instructor. She’s so amazing – she taught me how to make a bowl and spoon rest. She was extremely thorough and patient. She is a wonderful human being and just a joy to work with. If you come to this location you should ask for Winnie!

The pottery class without painting was Amazing!!! We were greeted into such a warm atmosphere that heightened our curiosity to learn more about pottery and be courageous to attempt to make wonderful pieces . We took our class with Marcos, highly recommend this instructor because of his welcoming aura and kindness, and the comfortable atmosphere he created to try to make abstract pieces! I plan to come back very soon!!!

This was a great experience! Was a bit thrown off by the basement location. But the staff were exceptional and really took their time with us. Marcos and Rivelle are superstars! We arrived 10 mins late due to traffic and still was able to complete 4 pieces. They even let us stay after, helping us paint and design our mugs! Can’t praise them enough!
quadri olanlege

I just wanted to give a special thank you and shout out to Star for absolutely being THE Star of the show. I went for a date class and it was the most therapeutic and funnest experiences I’ve ever had. My inner child was screaming with joy. I’m definitely going to be taking up pottery in the future. Star can also get a seat at The Lobster Club and a round of drinks + apps on Liz anytime as long as I’m there! Thank you once again.

I discovered this unique cafe while searching for something different to do in New York and visited last weekend after making a reservation through Instagram. The cozy two-story space had a charming workshop-style atmosphere that I really enjoyed.
We opted for the Paint-A-Pot activity in the Art Cafe. It was $28 per person, plus the cost of the pot you choose. The pots were pricier than expected, so we went with simple cups. The supplies provided were decent – a nice selection of paint colors, a pencil for sketching, three different-sized brushes, a towel, and a water cup.
If you’re looking for a unique cafe experience, I’d recommend this as a fun date spot! Just a tip: you might want to bring your own water or drinks.

What a delightful experience! There was thankfully space for us even after arriving midway into the session. The hosts were kind enough to seat us quickly and were attentive and sweet throughout it all. I went with the paint a pot activity and had a lot of fun! I do wish there were more color options though because I wanted a hot pink color that was difficult to produce using the light colors available. My box/pot was $40 and the activity was $28. You have to return in ~2 weeks to pick up your glazed pot.
Mayumi Verse

I had a great experience here! Love the vibes of the place and the snack bar upstairs. My first pottery experience. My instructor was extremely friendly, encouraging, and she even encouraged me to keep the unique piece that I thought was ugly, but ended up liking in the end . I will definitely be back for the painting class offered upstairs.
I’m giving a four-star rating because, although we were supposed to have two people assisting, only one person was actively walking around to help. It would have been better to have both available so we could be reminded of the proper hand positions for molding the clay more quickly.
One suggestion: take pictures of the instructors’ hands in the key positions needed and place them at each station. This way, customers wouldn’t need to keep asking for guidance and could spend more time creating. Waiting for the one instructor to walk around and assist everyone took away from my time, and having visual aids would have been really helpful.
Additionally, charging $25 for each additional pot you want to keep seems a bit expensive, especially considering the class is already $130+. Perhaps you could offer an option to keep an extra pot for $5-$7, without paint, just as is.

I recently attended a figure drawing session at Happy Medium, and it was a remarkable experience. As an artist, finding a conducive environment to hone my skills is crucial, and this studio exceeded my expectations.
The space itself is spacious and well-lit, providing ample room for artists to work comfortably. The atmosphere was both professional and welcoming, which made it easy to focus and be inspired.
The session was well-organized, starting with short warm-up poses and gradually moving to longer, more detailed ones. The models were professional, maintaining interesting and challenging poses that pushed my creative boundaries. They were also very approachable and open to feedback, enhancing the overall experience.
The facilitators were knowledgeable and offered constructive critiques without being overbearing. It was clear they were passionate about art and dedicated to helping artists grow.
What stood out to me was the sense of community. Artists of all levels attended, from beginners to professionals, creating a diverse and supportive environment. We were encouraged to share our work and techniques, fostering a collaborative spirit.
Additionally, the studio provided quality materials, which was a nice touch for those who might not have brought their own. The refreshments and comfortable seating added to the overall positive experience.
In summary, HM is a fantastic place for any artist looking to improve their figure drawing skills. The professional yet friendly environment, skilled models, and supportive community make it a top choice. I highly recommend it and look forward to my next session there.

Jacob was a great instructor. He was helpful and patient and took his time when it came to explaining. This is a fun activity to do with friends or a small company outing! It’s also a very fun date. Jacob was nice enough to recommend spots to try around the area. Can’t wait to go again!

My friends and I went to Maison Clay for a fun Sunday activity and we all had the most incredible time doing the Intro class with Jacob! We have all tried a few different places together, and this was by far our favorite and the best!! Jacob was kind, patient, and gave very specific helpful feedback to each person in my group. He did a demo, in which he showed techniques, then we worked at the same time step by step, before a final third round where we practiced the steps on our own as he came around to guide us as necessary. The class price includes keeping one choice piece from what you make, with flexibility and options to pay for keeping more if wanted. Jacob’s calm attitude was very grounding and motivating. My group and I cannot wait to come back! Thanks for everything, Jacob and Maison Clay!

The intro to wheel throwing class was excellent. We were a small group that received a lot of individual attention and help from Stephen, the great instructor. He gave a quick rundown and tutorial and then we got started quick! I was surprised that we each produced about four or five pieces. It was helpful to work on making multiple small pieces because it helped me learn the process well and see what works and doesn’t. The studio glazes the pieces for you and then you pick them up in four weeks. Excited to get mine back! Studio is super cute and eclectic, would love to go back in the day time to see those lovely windows letting in the sun. 10/10 recommend.

This is a great place to bring your friends or colleagues for some art time. You can color pottery, statuettes, do mosaics and paint a canvas. They also have a separate room for parties, you can bring your own food and have the music on. The staff is great at organizing the party. They were super resourceful at helping me organize the event and I highly recommend this place to everyone!

Took an eight week class and learned so much. I was ready to be super intimidated because I’ve never done any sort of pottery or clay work before but Kevin made it really approachable and fun and I even walked away with a few pieces that I’m really proud of. It was a very chill experience, priced really reasonably for all I got out of it, and I’m looking into signing up for another block of classes. Perfect way to spend a sunday morning! Beginners are truly welcome!
Caroline Moss

I went to a class in summer 2024 with my partner and had a good time. We love our pieces and they still hold strong.
My lower rating is due to my experience August 2023. I reserved a class and could not make it due to a day of personal emergency. I emailed the studio and they replied that there were no refunds at all and couldn’t reschedule less than a week before the class. I understood at the time. Still, I really wanted to take the class so I waited until I could save enough money and register for the class again.
When I had my class this year, I kept trying to figure out why I couldn’t get a refund or reschedule. Anyone who didn’t show up just had their molds removed and the clay slip set out for them put back in the buckets they came from. It seemed like not a big deal for the instructors because no material or time went to waste. I could be wrong.
I understand not offering refunds or anything like that if no one shows up and doesn’t bother reaching out, but I am a bit surprised that they would not want me to experience their class? Do they not understand last minute emergencies happen? I’m a bit disgusted that they just took my money.
Overall if you don’t ever expect to have a personal emergency or fall sick the day of, you might like this class.

Wilcoxson Brooklyn Ceramics was a perfect choice for celebrating my birthday with a group of friends.
It started with an easy booking process thanks to Kevin who was very friendly, flexible and responsive to our needs.
We had a spacious and bright studio upstairs all to ourselves complemented by BYOB and freedom to choose our own music which made the creative process even more enjoyable.
But of course the main highlight of the experience was a pottery class itself. Our instructor, Matt, was fantastic. He patiently explained the pottery making process before we started and offered helpful tips throughout the whole 3-hour session.
We really enjoyed making the cups – it was challenging enough for beginners like us but very rewarding, as by the end of the class everyone was able to make 2 cups each!
I highly recommend this ceramics studio for a group event and plan to return for a regular class myself.
Anastasia Milovidova

Had so much fun at the planter workshop! The space is small which made for a good class size, around 13 people. The instructors were so lovely. They provided creative inspiration and enough guidance that no one could mess up too badly! Can’t wait to see how our pieces come out!

Had a lot of fun at their full day workshop. It was for 2 tables, 2 mugs, and 2 bowls (that you have the option to divide into shorter bowls too). Kevin is so kind in giving advice and sharing tips on bringing your design and idea into life. So I’d definitely recommend this class to anyone interested in a quick, one time, no commitment or prior experience needed, kind of class. Of course it’s always better to come prepared with an idea of what you want to make, it’ll make things go smoother.
There are 3 colored slip available, and only tonal variations from those. So I only used the blue slip and mixed in with the base to get the gradation. All this was explained in the demo in the beginning of the class. And there are plenty of samples of student work and their work too, to gain inspiration from as well

This was my first time working with a pottery wheel, and let me tell you, it’s much harder than it looks. It’s also incredibly calming, though—like a peaceful, messy escape. Speaking of messy, definitely wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. If you’ve got plans afterward, bring a change of clothes because clay has a way of sneaking onto everything!
The 2-hour session is well-structured. You get an intro and demo to start, followed by free time to create and then a cleanup session. Honestly, time flies because you spend most of it practicing and experimenting, especially as you get used to the wheel. If you’re coming with friends or a date, be sure to arrive early to snag seats together—it’s first-come, first-served, and you might end up separated if you’re late.
At $90, it’s a bit of a splurge for a one-time experience, but it’s definitely worth it if you’re looking to try something new. You get to keep one piece you make (they fire it for you), but I’ll admit none of mine turned out exactly how I wanted. Still, I picked one just because it was my own creation.
Would I do this all the time? Probably not. But for a one-off creative adventure, it’s totally worth it. Highly recommend if you’re looking to try something new!

We did a fun girlfriend activity in Brooklyn – a pottery class. It was my first time trying pottery.
The studio was easy to get to from Manhattan.
I liked the studio and the teacher was patient with us.
Two hours went by quickly, and I made a few small dishes. It’s a great idea for a date or to do with friends. I found it relaxing, even though I wasn’t very good at making plates.
The staff was helpful and nice.
The place was big and well-organized.
The only downside was that my cup won’t be ready for 3 weeks, which seems too long and you need to pay extra if you want to get more than one item you made.

I’ve taken multiple classes at Choplet and went on to become a member. I’ve been a member for over a year now and couldn’t be happier. It’s a great studio where you will have all the resources to grow in your ceramic practice – and the garden is super nice to work in in the summer and spring 🙂

Classes were okay. If you are an independent learner than this place is good for you. They have a pretty strict policy for make up classes in case you miss one for an emergency. In my experience I had a medical emergency once and I missed my last glazing class and they were not very understanding about it, they told me I had to pay another session to finish my pieces, which it felt they just wanna make money out of u, not really concentrate in your learning experience + the classes are so expensive. The lady at the front desk was so rude to me many times, honestly she made my experience very unpleasant even on studio hours. I wouldn’t recommend this place to people. Invest your money somewhere else

Went for a beginners wheel session (2hrs) and had so much fun!
The teacher Loretta really made the class. She was so enthusiastic & had a great teaching style. Also loved her attitude towards making art – made everyone feel good about where they were and the work they had done. Will definitely be going back!
