Urban Homecraft

We wanted to maximize the space on the walls of our living room by creating built-ins and adding a fireplace feature. (See first photo which is the “before” photo from the “for sale” listing).We selected Urban Homecraft, and our experience was outstanding. From our first meeting with George and Kayla, the attention to detail was excellent. The contracting experience was seamless as we worked with Casey to sort out the details. We then worked closely with Kayla on the entire design phase of the built-ins. She helped us with the proper sizing, material selection, and helped us ensure we chose the right size for our fireplace insert. Kayla also coordinated with our marble vendor to ensure the stone was properly templated to match the specs of the design. In sum, Kayla is excellent.Finally, the installation team was great. They prepped our apartment to minimize any mess and debris and worked within the parameters of our co-op’s “ house rules.” The installers were incredibly detailed in their work. As you can see from the 3 last photos, the built-ins came out beautifully and add so much to our apartment. 5 stars for Urban Homecraft!

I hired Urban Homecraft to remake my office space in December 2023 after I got a more remote work position and needed a more functional space (see before picture). I cannot recommend them highly enough! From the initial consult with George and Kayla they were able to help me envision a home office I did not think would be possible for such a limited space and were able to make the office fit in with my décor perfectly. The installation with Scott was also extremely smooth and professional given how disruptive it could have been around the holidays. Would gladly recommend them again

Urban Homecraft did such an incredible job with our custom closets! My spouse and I were considering moving from our studio to a larger apartment, but we wanted to see if it'd be possible to re-do our closets to meet our storage needs instead. We're so glad we hired Urban Homecraft for the job -- our storage issues have been solved, our new closets are beautiful, and we love our apartment even more.When we were gathering proposals from different closet companies Urban Homecraft really stood out in terms of being able to maximize space in the face of oddly-shaped NYC closets. They were able to deal with all of the weird shapes and even a cable running through one closet that belonged to our building and needed to stay in place. None of it phased them, and what they were able to build for us is in a totally different league than what would have been possible with a modular closet system from one of their competitors.Working with them was a total breeze. They're all really lovely people! It was a very collaborative process; they listened to everything we were hoping to accomplish and told us how to make the best use of our space. They measured all of our items to make sure everything we wanted to store would fit, including how high we're comfortable reaching to put away a coat on a hanger. Their attention to detail was incredible. They explained all of the pros and cons when we had to make a decision and were very up front when something would cost extra (no pressure and no surprises). And they were very thorough in going over the plans with us before construction started to make sure we were happy and didn't have any unanswered questions.Getting approval from our building and construction itself was also super simple. The project ran smoothly and finished on time. They made sure we tested everything and were happy before closing things out. And the end result is beautiful and functional. It's been almost a year and they're holding up great. We can store so much more, and access our belongings more easily, than we ever could before. What more could you ask for?

We absolutely love our new built in cabinetry, and the experience of working with the team was a pleasure from start to finish. Everyone was communicative, reliable and collaborative. We completed a thorough design process where I had the opportunity to explore questions about each piece and to visualize different variations. I received valuable input on how to make each piece better than I originally envisioned it. The installation was smooth and quick, and the craftsmanship is impeccable. We are so proud of the customized, high-end touches we now have in our home.

Had a fantastic experience with Urban Homecraft who designed and built a beautiful stand-alone bookcase that is doing double-duty as a room divider for us. We had some unique challenges due to our apartment layout and our strict coop board, but the folks at Urban Homecraft were able to deal with it all and were extremely communicative throughout the process. We're very happy with final result and definitely would recommend Urban Homecraft!
