I had an incredibly positive experience with Spring Creek Rehabilitation and Nursing Home Care. From the moment we walked in, the facility had a warm, welcoming atmosphere that made us feel at ease. I had the opportunity to visit this rehabilitation care center after a sister in Christ was admitted there to recover from a stroke. Upon entering, I was greeted by security with a pleasant smile and hello who gave me instructions for checking in. On the floor where my sister in Christ was, the staff was friendly, professional and helpful. I met a few patients as I sat in the cafeteria and chat. Everything was great on my first of many visits until my sister is discharged and sent home. By God’s grace, hopefully soon.

I went to visit my Mom. I was very impressed the staff was very welcoming and friendly. The entire floor was clean as well as my Mom’s room. She was checked on the entire time I was there by the nursing staff.
Not only that, my Mom stated she felt comfortable there as well, compared to the Rehab she was at years ago.

The registration process was quick and easy since I was a visitor previously. The man at reception was very friendly and helpful, as was the staff I encountered. I am glad they installed new elevators. The carpet in the lounge needed to be swept; that’s the only bad thing I can say about my visit here.

While visiting my uncle at Spring Creek in Brooklyn, I was very impressed to see how well groomed he was and I also noticed that his room and bed were looking very clean and neat, furthermore I checked the visible part of his skin for dryness .
The Facility itself is clean, the staff is ok , I did not interact much with them .
My uncle was a school principal back home, it is had for me to see him that way but I feel better now knowing that he is in great care.
Thank you to the whole team of the 3th floor for providing such a good care to my dear uncle .

I was hesitant at first to visit my friend at a rehabilitation place. I’ve been in other rehabilitation places and they were depressing and not too clean. This place felt pleasant as soon as I entered in the lobby. The only thing that I felt a little taken back was the receptionist was all bundled up wearing her coat, scarf, hat and gloves due to the lobby doors opening and the cold air coming in. Otherwise, she was pleasant and she directed me to sign in and get my pass to visit my friend. It was easy and the elevators took me right up to her floor. I found the room easily due to the numbers were large enough to see. My friend looked and acted like she was very comfortable enough. There was room enough for her large family and friends to visit. While we were visiting her nurse aides and nurses would pop up to see if she needed anything and to let her know they were around to see if she needed anything. They were all very polte and friendly. I enjoyed my visit with my friend at this place and felt comfortable knowing that she’s in good place that is being taken care of very well. I will definitely come to visit her more often.

If you don’t have to leave anybody there on the 15th floor, please don’t. I’m not saying that they weren’t some good nurses there because they were but there were some that were so evil. It wasn’t even funny. My mother can’t walk. There’s a lot of things she couldn’t do and one of the nurses has just pushed her with The wheelchair into the bathroom and shut the door and left her there. She knows my mother can’t get on the toilet and the good nurse came to save her. Then there was another one that went to give her a shower and my mother was holding up for their life and she was saying I’m gonna fall. I’m gonna fall. She said you’re not gonna fall too bad. She didn’t help her at all. That was bad. My mother was crying. Then there was another nurse that decided that my mother was urinating too much. There were many many times that my mother sat there in her diaper for hours and hours with the bed, wet and her diaper wet asking for help. I can’t tell you how many times my mother called me and I had to call the hospital to get somebody to help my mother. I can’t even count. I gave this place one Starr and I shouldn’t have. They should be ashamed of themselves. They should have camera so they could see how their nurse is treat patients like I said there was a handful of good ones but man there were some rotten ones really bad be careful. Do not put your family member there.

I was well taken care of. I enjoyed the activities. I received a beautiful haircut, shampoo and color. I hated the diaper change at 6am or earlier. The staff is wonderful. They took good care of me and saved my life. I didn’t even want to go home to my husband. I loved certain staff very much. Wonderful gym and physical therapy.

My husband had 2 visits this past year. We had a caring staff who tended to him
when they were able. So many unexpected patient needs, they can be prevented from getting to each one in a timely manner. However, the intention is always there and we enjoyed the interaction as well as the care…even from some of the service employees.
The Patient Advocates were great as well as the Social Workers and helped us through this experience.

While there were some excellent staff members, care is spotty and calls often took a very long time for response. There seems to be no communication among staff and some are so poorly trained they seemed not to know how to make a bed properly or to handle with care my husband, who had had neck surgery. His roommate developed covid while my husband was there, and I seemed to be the one who had to inform each staff member that they could not put another person in the room until my husband had tested negative after 5 days. Eventually, my husband was taken back to the hospital for high sodium levels. The doctor (quite good) advised me to make him drink more, but every morning when I arrived, my husband’s mouth was so dry he could barely speak. I would NEVER put anyone I care for into this facility again.

TIME FOR A REAL REVIEW!
This is a review to really help someone who has to make a decision on where to place a loved one for care. I was face with a decision that had to be made quickly for short term care for my father and mistakenly chose this facility due to the pictures and reviews. The social worker told me to be careful of 5 star reviews because they were not all true and she was correct. This facility isn’t all bad for short term but it’s very dated and the food is terrible. I made sure to try and bring food for my father while he was rehabilitating. The place was literally under construction and the big outdoor pool area on the website was non existent. Some of the staff was attentive but I feel for the price they charge the elderly..it should at least provide a more quality meal. The phones in the room don’t even work. I had to leave a cell phone for my father just to check on him. True advertising and quality of food should be the start of fixing the many issues with this facility. Sad part is with my current knowledge of nursing homes…it seems most are like this. Especially medicaid facilities. Do your best to go see the facility in person before you decide to place a loved on there. Make a decision because it’s like the lesser of the two evils with these places. Proof in the pictures.

My mom has been staying here and so far, I have no complaints. The nurses are very attentive,and are a ton of activities for the patient. The only I would like to see more of is getting the patient outdoors especially in the summer time. But I’m happy with the care my mother is getting.

The main entrance look worn and dated but the front desk security is very pleasant and helpful. the patient floor is very modern bright and new love the patient rooms. But I must agree with another viewer about the 2 floor attendant the staff is very cold and distant I was told that every 20-30 min someone would check on the patient and on several days I’ve sat there with my brother and didn’t see a face for hours I’ve never witness a medical staff like this floor. I feel for the patient that can’t do for themselves you ask the RNA a question they look at you like how dare you. When the head nurse and nurse supervisor speak with you they assure you of great care but for reason the staff didn’t get the memo. Because that 2 FLOOR STAFF needs extensive Bedside manner trainings.

Eric was recommended to me by my Dad’s synagogue, and I’m very glad we worked with him. My Dad was not doing well in a rehab/skilled nursing facility and we knew we needed to get him out of there fast. I had already toured a couple of places, and it was such a relief to have someone else deal with setting up tours going forward, finding out prices for various situations, and being the liaison between us and everywhere we were looking. The sales people at the various assisted living facilities all knew Eric. He has a detailed knowledge of which places can handle which levels of care. In the end, we had two of the nicest places in Manhattan competing to offer us a better deal than the other. We are very happy with the place we ended up choosing with Eric’s help.

July was a pretty hectic month as I had to, once again, search for a more affordable zip code for Mom. I’ve been sure to always place her in quality assisted living for Memory Care – but the increased cost of elder care outpaces inflation by a long shot, while her pension and social security remain fixed until her life story ends.

ZIP CODE MATTERS.
And with each move, she is farther and father away from me. For the first time, I had to cross state lines.

Thanks to Rod Oshins’ research, we moved her to a lovely place in New Jersey – but thankfully I live within 10 minutes of of the George Washington Bridge, and she is equidistant to it on the Jersey side. Thank goodness for Lyft – only 25 minutes away on a good day!

So far, I’m very happy with this choice. The staff is very friendly and attentive, so it took no time for Mom to adjust.

She has a sunny room equipped with a kitchenette all to herself – no roommates YAY! There is a gorgeous dining room, private dining for special events, several cozy living room spaces, outdoor patios, entertainment, cinema, art room, on-site wellness/nursing facility with visiting doctors and nurse practitioner weekly.

The decor is joyous and welcoming, centered around an old 1940s/50s Hollywood and Television movie star theme.

I’m grateful to Rod for helping to make sense out of what is otherwise a black box of information overload. I would 100% recommend him to any family who is looking for help in making this important decision .

I want to make a call to the health authorities of NY to let them know the terrible state of care for the elderly at Isabella Rehabilitation and Nursing Home located in Audubon 515-525 in the Bronx, the patients are literally abandoned, cleanliness is a priority however here dirt is normal in the rooms, I have my aunt in Isabellaby I have complained many times to the Social Worker, nurses, assistants and even with the same director without anyone attending to me!!! Not giving good care to the elderly confined there is a form of abuse, please a thorough inspection must be done and solve the problem of many abandoned elderly and that the insurance pays very well for each one of them, it is not fair!!! help please

My grand aunt was in this facility months ago and all I can say is thank you. The care she received was outstanding and I know that is why she was able to get back on her feet, something nobody thought would be possible. Everyone in the building is great but the 10th floor staff went above and beyond to not only make my aunt feel safe but also to reassure us when we were starting to lose hope. I also want to thank the recreation department for keeping her so busy in between therapy sessions, she always looked forward to the events. So much that we had to call in advance to see if she was available. My family and especially my aunt will forever be grateful to have found this rehab place, they made a terrible experience into a positive and productive one.

My father was in rehab for about a month after being released from the hospital. He is close to 90 years old and was weak and needed PT and OT after being hospitalized. My biggest complaint with Mary Manning is the inability to get a hold of any staff member. I have tried multiple numbers for the social workers and nurses and the chance of someone picking up the phone is almost zero. When the call goes to voicemail the mailbox’s are always full. As for the one care plan meeting that was held for my father, it felt like the staff just checked the boxes that it was held. It barely lasted 10 or so minutes and really felt rushed. I have not received one call regarding the progress of my father. The only time I hear from Manny Manning is when they needs something like his insurance, etc. I am sure it is not easy caring for those that are sick and recovering but the level of attention and empathy should be revisited.

My stay there was really quite nice. Lots of friendly staff and good care. The place is very clean. I loved attending mass, which was held everyday, in the chapel. It was nice to see the nuns moving about the building. The only thing that I was not too crazy about was the food.

The building, facility room and common areas are clean, well maintained and safe.
The staff is skilled, friendly, professional and concerned.

Con: Food ranges from mostly good to bad. Sometimes the food does not look great but is pretty good when you taste it. My diabetes has been well controlled by the food served.

Doctors, nurses and staff, I believe are affected by labor shortages, limited coordination of staff and lack of communication. Waited days to speak to Rehabilitation doctor.

Patient advocates and administrative staff are available to help resolve issues.

Estuve Visitando este Domingo a mi tia Ana. Irrisari los Dormitorios y los Baños estan sucios las Sabanas no se las cambian las ayudan a bañar con malos tratos cada 4 dias es impertensa y su comida esta con mucha sal sus piernas estan muy inchadas no veo justo que si los pacientes estan pagando por estar en recuperación esten maltratadas e incluso las enfermeras son antipaticas les habla y no te responden .Yo espero que esto cambie .

My father has been a resident here since late January 2024. I am very pleased with the care he is receiving from everyone. Making the decision of long term nursing home care for my dad was not an easy decision to make. I’m happy I made the decision to have him at The New Jewish Home. I sleep very well knowing he’s safe and cared for on Sutro 2!

Avoid putting anyone you care about in The New Jewish Home. My aunt is a resident at the Manhattan campus. They do not change her disposable briefs from Friday to Monday. Often she is left in the same clothes for 3 to 4 days. She has gone without a shower for months now. (Not an exaggeration.) Recently, she fainted from malnourishment.

Her hair is falling out from the lack of nutrition. I recently discovered that they only feed her salad with nothing else-no proteins. I have talked to their nutritionist, but nothing has changed. My aunt is literally starving to death there. When I bring take out food for her, she scarfs it down like she hasn’t eaten in a long time. (Because she hasn’t eaten in a long time.) The evening staff refuses to wear their employee Identification in a visible manner which is a violation of NY State Law. The common refrigerator for the residents is filthy. There is nothing for the residents to eat in the refrigerator. The staff regularly takes home any fruits or sodas sent up from the kitchen for themselves. Once a month, the kitchen sends up a cake for the residents to enjoy for a group birthday for that month. The staff takes the residents cake and eats it themselves. There is filth as shown on the top of the elevator call button. I have filed many complaints with the NY state, but they fall of deaf ears. .Covid has provided the perfect cover for the staff to neglect and abuse residents as loved ones are not able to check on their family members. Every person responsible for this abuse should be charged criminally. Elder neglect and abuse is a crime. Bottom line, prisoners at Rikers Island get better treatment.

New Jewish Home continues to fail. Months of dirty laundry piled in the closet.

Broken bathroom door still broken even though it’s been reported.
I emailed the supervisor, but no response.

Update 4/2/2023-
More filthy conditions!
The bed sheets and pillowcases are filthy dirty. The fitted mattress is covered with dead skin flakes. The fitted sheet was very dirty and had not been changed in a very long time.
Update 4/9/2023-
Today, I had to give my loved one a shower at the New Jewish home because the staff had not showered her in months.
I discovered that they had not changed her disposable brief in a very long time. It was filled with feces.
Pictured are some of the towels that had to use to clean her. They are covered in feces as I had to wash her up in the shower.
Her sheets had feces too and I had to instruct the staff to change them.
This is beyond unacceptable. This is criminal.

This facility seems to always be short staffed on the weekends. I noticed that the Health Department has given a violation for the lack of staffing

Very poor care. Some nurses are ok, but most don’t answer the call button for hours, and leave the patient bed bound for days. She has not had a shower in over 2 weeks. if i could give zero stars i would.I leave signs and ask every day for help because the patient is blind. There is never anyone answering the phone and I run up and down the halls searching for an aide when the patient needs help that I can not do myself. I am not a nurse. I am not trained. I am a friend and I am astounded by the lack of care.
