Desde la atención de los recepcionistas hasta las supuestas habitaciones todo pésimo. Ninguno habla español, solo pedí que me hablaran en inglés despacio y a propósito me hablaban más rápido, todo el tiempo olor a comida horrible y eso que la cocina está separada del Hostel. Las habitaciones ni siquiera tienen techo, solo paredes de durlok, yo reserve una habitación de 6 femenina y me colocaron en una de 2 mixta. En ningún momento de la reserva dice que te toman USD50 de garantía. No te da frazadas, hay mosquitos en las habitaciones. La ubicación pésima, la limpieza más o menos. Y no es barato para lo que brindan. No lo recomiendo. El wifi funciona muy mal, solo escaleras, pasa el metro por arriba que no deja dormir

Uno de los peores hostales en los que he estado! No está mal la ubicación pero de noche da miedo. Esta al lado de las vías del metro por lo que en la noche es muy ruidoso. Las cuartos son de dos personas pero están divididos por muros que no llegan hasta el techo por lo que prácticamente se escucha TODO. Es económico, he estado en otros hostales en Manhattan y Brooklyn pero este es el peor!!! Traten de evitarlo y el trato que las recepcionistas dan es pésimo!!!! Me tocaron dos y ambas súper antipáticas y no ayudaban mucho. Para esto en tu llegada te piden tu tarjeta de crédito para retenerla por cualquier daño a la propiedad. Es un hostal muy feo! Evítenlo!

Buen hostel, para ser hostel.
Sí está cerca de las vías, sí puede ser ruidoso, pero resulta obvio. También eso genera la ventaja de estar a menos de una cuadra de la estación del metro.
Sí es un poco ruidoso en cuanto a la aislación entre habitaciones, ya que es bastante débil.
En cuanto a la limpieza, es correcta, siempre ví los baños limpios. En cuanto a la privacidad, en las habitaciones hay lockers (hay que llevar candado propio), y las puertas tanto del baño como de las duchas, son de vidrio esmerilado, por lo que se ven las siluetas (rara vez me crucé con gente). Para los pudorosos recomiendo llevar alguna cortina de plástico de esas baratas y la pegan en la puerta del baño con sopapa o cinta adhesiva, pero la verdad es que no se ve nada.
Algo que se ve en las fotos del lugar, pero es difícil de encontrar estando ahí, es ese living con TV, cocina, pool y máquinas expendedoras extra (porque en el lobby tienen algunas, con bebidas y comidas). En la puerta de al lado está ese lugar, es decir, hay que salir a la calle para entrar, pero está buenísimo: hay pool, metegol, mesas, una TV, baños, cocina, heladera y un piano.

Es muy limpio ordenado y tienen una sala/cocina excelente. Es amplia, cuenta con mesas de Ping pong, computadoras, pool, futbolitos, y grandes TV. Hay wifi en todo el edificio. Para dormir a veces se hace difícil por el tren y porque las habitaciones son abiertas en la parte superior y se puede oír todo lo que pasa en los rooms adyacentes. (Te regalan tapones en recepción. )

THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!

Cuando me registré me dijeron que por un late check-out tenia que pagar 25$ pero cuando regresé todas mis cosas estaban abajo y en bolsas… practicamente ME BOTARON!!! Cuando quise pagar por el late check out y ocupar la habitacion nuevamente resulta que el precio era de 70$ ¿¿¿??? Chicos les recomiendo que busquen otras opciones de hotel tipo Manhattan o por el centro… Esto no vale la pena! Y a ustedes International Student Residence: Coordinen bien entre ustedes antes de dar una informacion falsa… eso se llama MENTIR y ESTAFAR! CHICOS NO VENGAN AQUI!!! : GUYS DO NOT STAY HERE!

The staff are truly exceptional. Everyone, from the nurses to the support staff, is friendly, compassionate, and professional. My mother stayed in the rehab for as long as this deplorable institution could justify sucking her Medicare dry. Two weeks turned into two months. My mother was held hostage. She called me every day, crying and begging me to take her home. They only worked with her one hour a day, Monday through Friday. The rest of the time she had nothing to do and nowhere to go. The food was inedible slop.The only thing that kept my mother from complete despair was having her family and her caregivers come every day to visit and bring her good tasting food from home.

My Mother-in-Law has been there 6 months. She seems well cared for. The facilities are very clean and everyone is very attentive but, her neighbor steals her clothes and personal items and no one does anything to control it. I had to get my own lock for her closet and the lock was taken too. Even her shoes disappear and no one ever knows anything.

Eric was recommended to me by my Dad’s synagogue, and I’m very glad we worked with him. My Dad was not doing well in a rehab/skilled nursing facility and we knew we needed to get him out of there fast. I had already toured a couple of places, and it was such a relief to have someone else deal with setting up tours going forward, finding out prices for various situations, and being the liaison between us and everywhere we were looking. The sales people at the various assisted living facilities all knew Eric. He has a detailed knowledge of which places can handle which levels of care. In the end, we had two of the nicest places in Manhattan competing to offer us a better deal than the other. We are very happy with the place we ended up choosing with Eric’s help.

July was a pretty hectic month as I had to, once again, search for a more affordable zip code for Mom. I’ve been sure to always place her in quality assisted living for Memory Care – but the increased cost of elder care outpaces inflation by a long shot, while her pension and social security remain fixed until her life story ends.

ZIP CODE MATTERS.
And with each move, she is farther and father away from me. For the first time, I had to cross state lines.

Thanks to Rod Oshins’ research, we moved her to a lovely place in New Jersey – but thankfully I live within 10 minutes of of the George Washington Bridge, and she is equidistant to it on the Jersey side. Thank goodness for Lyft – only 25 minutes away on a good day!

So far, I’m very happy with this choice. The staff is very friendly and attentive, so it took no time for Mom to adjust.

She has a sunny room equipped with a kitchenette all to herself – no roommates YAY! There is a gorgeous dining room, private dining for special events, several cozy living room spaces, outdoor patios, entertainment, cinema, art room, on-site wellness/nursing facility with visiting doctors and nurse practitioner weekly.

The decor is joyous and welcoming, centered around an old 1940s/50s Hollywood and Television movie star theme.

I’m grateful to Rod for helping to make sense out of what is otherwise a black box of information overload. I would 100% recommend him to any family who is looking for help in making this important decision .

I want to make a call to the health authorities of NY to let them know the terrible state of care for the elderly at Isabella Rehabilitation and Nursing Home located in Audubon 515-525 in the Bronx, the patients are literally abandoned, cleanliness is a priority however here dirt is normal in the rooms, I have my aunt in Isabellaby I have complained many times to the Social Worker, nurses, assistants and even with the same director without anyone attending to me!!! Not giving good care to the elderly confined there is a form of abuse, please a thorough inspection must be done and solve the problem of many abandoned elderly and that the insurance pays very well for each one of them, it is not fair!!! help please

I highly recommend this Home Health Agency. I don’t recommend family or caregivers to utilize Alvita Home Care for any services. I beg you do not put your loved ones with this agency.. They are disguised to look like a real company but in fact they are not. It is my belief that they are operating as a shell company to look legit. Their customer service is nearly non-existent.
They have a call center located in the Philippines and the chance of you speaking with a coordinator or a worker based in NY is zero. On top of that the recruiter, Jenni, is unprofessional. Estuve Visitando este Domingo a mi tia Ana. Irrisari los Dormitorios y los Baños estan sucios las Sabanas no se las cambian las ayudan a bañar con malos tratos cada 4 dias es impertensa y su comida esta con mucha sal sus piernas estan muy inchadas no veo justo que si los pacientes estan pagando por estar en recuperación esten maltratadas e incluso las enfermeras son antipaticas les habla y no te responden .Yo espero que esto cambie .

Avoid putting anyone you care about in The New Jewish Home. My aunt is a resident at the Manhattan campus. They do not change her disposable briefs from Friday to Monday. Often she is left in the same clothes for 3 to 4 days. She has gone without a shower for months now. (Not an exaggeration.) Recently, she fainted from malnourishment.

Her hair is falling out from the lack of nutrition. I recently discovered that they only feed her salad with nothing else-no proteins. I have talked to their nutritionist, but nothing has changed. My aunt is literally starving to death there. When I bring take out food for her, she scarfs it down like she hasn’t eaten in a long time. (Because she hasn’t eaten in a long time.) The evening staff refuses to wear their employee Identification in a visible manner which is a violation of NY State Law. The common refrigerator for the residents is filthy. There is nothing for the residents to eat in the refrigerator. The staff regularly takes home any fruits or sodas sent up from the kitchen for themselves. Once a month, the kitchen sends up a cake for the residents to enjoy for a group birthday for that month. The staff takes the residents cake and eats it themselves. There is filth as shown on the top of the elevator call button. I have filed many complaints with the NY state, but they fall of deaf ears. .Covid has provided the perfect cover for the staff to neglect and abuse residents as loved ones are not able to check on their family members. Every person responsible for this abuse should be charged criminally. Elder neglect and abuse is a crime. Bottom line, prisoners at Rikers Island get better treatment.

New Jewish Home continues to fail. Months of dirty laundry piled in the closet.

More filthy conditions!
The bed sheets and pillowcases are filthy dirty. The fitted mattress is covered with dead skin flakes. The fitted sheet was very dirty and had not been changed in a very long time.
Update 4/9/2023-
Today, I had to give my loved one a shower at the New Jewish home because the staff had not showered her in months.
I discovered that they had not changed her disposable brief in a very long time. It was filled with feces.
Pictured are some of the towels that had to use to clean her. They are covered in feces as I had to wash her up in the shower.
Her sheets had feces too and I had to instruct the staff to change them.
This is beyond unacceptable. This is criminal.

This facility seems to always be short staffed on the weekends. I noticed that the Health Department has given a violation for the lack of staffing

Very poor care. Some nurses are ok, but most don’t answer the call button for hours, and leave the patient bed bound for days. She has not had a shower in over 2 weeks. if i could give zero stars i would.I leave signs and ask every day for help because the patient is blind. There is never anyone answering the phone and I run up and down the halls searching for an aide when the patient needs help that I can not do myself. I am not a nurse. I am not trained. I am a friend and I am astounded by the lack of care.

My grand aunt was in this facility months ago and all I can say is thank you. The care she received was outstanding and I know that is why she was able to get back on her feet, something nobody thought would be possible. Everyone in the building is great but the 10th floor staff went above and beyond to not only make my aunt feel safe but also to reassure us when we were starting to lose hope. I also want to thank the recreation department for keeping her so busy in between therapy sessions, she always looked forward to the events. So much that we had to call in advance to see if she was available. My family and especially my aunt will forever be grateful to have found this rehab place, they made a terrible experience into a positive and productive one.

My father was in rehab for about a month after being released from the hospital. He is close to 90 years old and was weak and needed PT and OT after being hospitalized. My biggest complaint with Mary Manning is the inability to get a hold of any staff member. I have tried multiple numbers for the social workers and nurses and the chance of someone picking up the phone is almost zero. When the call goes to voicemail the mailbox’s are always full. As for the one care plan meeting that was held for my father, it felt like the staff just checked the boxes that it was held. It barely lasted 10 or so minutes and really felt rushed. I have not received one call regarding the progress of my father. The only time I hear from Manny Manning is when they needs something like his insurance, etc. I am sure it is not easy caring for those that are sick and recovering but the level of attention and empathy should be revisited.

My stay there was really quite nice. Lots of friendly staff and good care. The place is very clean. I loved attending mass, which was held everyday, in the chapel. It was nice to see the nuns moving about the building. The only thing that I was not too crazy about was the food.

Pros:
The building, facility room and common areas are clean, well maintained and safe.
The staff is skilled, friendly, professional and concerned.

Con: Food ranges from mostly good to bad. Sometimes the food does not look great but is pretty good when you taste it. My diabetes has been well controlled by the food served.

Doctors, nurses and staff, I believe are affected by labor shortages, limited coordination of staff and lack of communication. Waited days to speak to Rehabilitation doctor.

Patient advocates and administrative staff are available to help resolve issues.

I want to share my experience as the primary caregiver for my elderly mother, who was terminally ill with cancer. I owe a world of gratitude to MJHS at-home hospice. They became an invaluable resource for our family. I want to thank Rafael Arias for his compassionate and professional approach. He took the time to understand my mother’s specific needs and developed a personalized care plan to address them.

The caregivers assigned to us were highly trained, showed genuine care, and quickly connected with my mother. Their excellent home health care services have been of great support during this difficult time. I am grateful for the positive impact MJHS has had on our lives and would wholeheartedly recommend their services to anyone seeking trustworthy and compassionate care for their loved ones.

MJHS provided the essentials and resources we needed when my father was under home hospice care. We were fortunate to get experienced, compassionate nurses, attentive case manager and health aide that spoke Chinese and between us, main caregivers we were also able to communicate all the needs and concerns, everyone was helpful and compassionate.

Overall I would not recommend home hospice for a loved one if you have any other options. I found too much guesswork for a layman to have to figure out at a very stressful time. Describing symptoms and handing out powerful drugs is nerve wracking. As for our nurse and social worker they were two awesome caring and amazing women. I never got to use the aides as my husband passed within a week, but I can only guess that would have been another layer of stress. Way to much responsibility is placed on family who are unprepared and unskilled. The after hours phone call system is hit or miss. Some of the calls I made to them were awesome and helpful and others were less than caring. I was on hold forever when my husband passed while the «looked» for someone to pronounce him. That took 45 minutes. Guess he died at an inconvenient time.The chaplin was actually rude to me on the phone. Additionally an error on my husbands death cert took multiple calls to fix which held up his cremation. There really should be a better system to care for our elderly in the richest country in the world. Best of luck to you if you are looking into this.

Excellent care provided by a caring and competent team of health care professionals. Comprehensive care was provided to my mother at her home by a doctor, nurse, social worker, and a spiritual counselor in her time of need. I recommend MJHS to any one in need.
